A true hip-hop renaissance man, Pugs’ art and music has been featured in movies, sporting events, video games, and public arts around the US. He has been able to tour the world performing his deep catalog. Along the way, his art has taken many forms; greeting cards, album covers, clothing, logos, graffiti, music videos, and deep dives into sculpture and oil painting at SAIC.
His inspiration stems from his family, growing up in Englewood, seeing performers on the Green Line train, and the murals and graffiti in his neighborhood.
Approach
Pugs’ artistic push is to document his time/the time. It’s the details in his pieces that tell you what year it is; people’s status; temperament; etc - context clues.
